Mensagem: | Hi Johannes, I agree the US should stop subsidizing large-scale commercial agri-business. Americans should pay far more for food than they do, and the food should be better quality. No doubt american corporations are in the thick of brasilian agri-business, but if that is so, it's only because the brasilian government allows it. Probably facilitates it, because wealthy land-owners are enriched. The bigger brasilian agriculture gets, the worse things will be for the bottom three-quarters of the population. In the US, big agriculture has ruined rural populations. Actually, the forests are largely re-grown in the eastern US. The sources that state that the US is using all of its available cropland are incorrect, because they ignore the huge collective area that could be used for small-scale dispersed agriculture - mostly in the eastern regions. |
