Among native speakers of English there's a strong tendency to use could followed by have (could have, could've); some natives sometimes say or spell "could of", which is a mistake of course. American and Canadian high school and college classes point out common mistakes that most native speakers make in grammar. Another common mistake is to use "there" for their and they're. This one is two mistakes in one: the proper selection of pronoun and spelling. "there my friends" instead of "they're my friends" "They brought there books to class" instead of "... their books" |
