It´s about collocations, I think. Tough, I am not being definite about it.
In general you ask the teacher about something (hence, about it...), on the other hand if you have something to send to someone you send it to...(someone/the teacher etc). Collocations give you a more generally used word order, anyway, I would love the teachers, more advanced learners, or natives give us a better-worded explanation.
