The Junina party is celebrated in June. It is a party associated with folk traditions. In the past years in the country, weddings were performed on the night of São João, with the bride and groom, parents, and guests together around a bonfire. It became a very popular traditional party, and during the month of June this party takes place all over the country. Adults, and especially children, wear typical clothing called caipiras, and they dance the "quadrilha" a folk dance. There are colorful flags and bonfires at the parties. The food and drinks are also traditional (have origins in folklore).* *This is just one way to re-write this paragraph. |
